Christmas parties – do you love them or hate them?
Does the ghost of Jacob Marley stalk your business at Christmas time or is everyone full of seasonal excitement? Who says ‘Bah! Humbug’ and who shouts ‘Hooray!”?
In a survey of 1,000 employees, over a quarter said they don’t enjoy Christmas parties. The main reasons for their lack of festive spirit are feeling obliged to have ‘fun’ and to socialise with colleagues that they don’t go out with for the rest of the year. Quite a few aren’t keen on evening events that don’t include their partners and family.
On the other hand, small teams who work closely together enjoy the opportunity to share some seasonal celebrations away from their normal work.
We’d really like to hear about the fantastic festivities you have planned for your business. In the meantime, here are some alternatives you might like to think about.
Murder and mayhem
While most of us think of sparkling lights and festive outfits, one option might be to look at the darker side of the season. There are plenty of murder-mystery events at this time of year – just don’t get too carried away with the fantasy of murdering a bothersome boss or challenging client.
A little extra touch of magic
While our Genies are truly magical beings, there’s plenty of room for entertainers too. You can add something extra to fascinate and confound your team with a magician who specialises in magic at close quarters.
If your team aren’t so keen on an evening in a nearby pub or restaurant, you could treat all their senses with a visit to a zoo or an activity-based outing to a nearby stately home or park. You could even wrap up warm and sing carols beside a bonfire with a glass of mulled wine.
Dare to be different
If your team is feeling a bit low in the rain and the snow you could brighten things up with an Aussie Christmas themed barbeque or a visit to your local ski slope or skating ring.
With so many things going on in December you could even choose to time-shift your celebrations and look forward to another exciting year in January instead.
Gifts at Christmas time can become expensive. One good way to make sure everyone has a little fun is to set a price limit and let everyone take ‘lucky dip’. No one will know who bought each gift, so you can be as naughty as you like!
Santa’s little helpers
Of course, this all needs to be organised. There’s nothing worse than a badly arranged event that feels like an afterthought.
If you would like help to arrange something that will even bring a smile to the Grinches in your business, our Genies can call on their friends, the elves.
Just tell us what you need, and we can whisk up something wonderful that will be sure to enchant everyone.
Or, if everything is already beautifully organised, and you don’t want anyone to be left behind to answer the phones, it’s a service our Genies will be delighted to provide.
Genies at Christmas are wonderful to behold. We’ll share our pictures with you and would love to see yours too.
If you would like us to help arrange some magically seasonal moments, just give us a call.

I don't think you could get much better
We're quite unique because The Office Genie provide their service free of charge to us as we're a charity which is amazing! As a charity getting something free of charge is as important as getting a donation so we really value that.
On occasions where we have to go to meetings or we have a day out or something like that we're able to do that now without the worry of not answering
to our supporters, so it removes the concerns of not responding as they literally just step in and be us for a day.
I don't think you could get much better. We've never had any issues whatsoever. We feel that we're getting the absolute best that we could from them at this time.
