The most important Movember message
If you’re growing a ‘mo’ this month – and razor brand Billie is encouraging ladies to join in the fun too – it’s a good opportunity to talk about why we’re being free with our facial hair.
The Movember campaign is all about taking action to stay healthy. While specific diseases like prostate and testicular cancer often go undiagnosed for too long because men are reluctant to talk about their symptoms, mental health and suicide are issues for us all.
Equally importantly, families and friends are affected when someone close to them is unwell or unhappy.
So Movember isn’t only for and about men, it’s for and about all of us. The campaign gives good advice for everyone and, with the help of some Genie magic, we can all follow it.
How many of us feel as though our business has cast a spell on us? It might not be making us feel good or happy, but we just don’t think we can take a break.
If you feel as though a holiday is a long-overdue promise just give the magic lantern a polish and a Genie can grant your wishes. You can head away to sun, sand or snow – whatever will give you back your glow. A Genie will keep everything under control and, if you want, send you a daily update so that you know there aren’t any gremlins at work.
Being here or there
Here’s another thing that we don’t think about often enough – being there when someone needs us. Seven out of ten men say they will be there for their friends, but less than half say they will ask for help.
Genies have fantastic heads for figures, and they know that these figures just don’t add up.
If you need to give or receive some support, don’t hesitate. Genies know that things can’t always be planned, and they are excellent in emergencies.
Checking it out
Taking time out of your busy work environment for an appointment with your doctor if you’ve noticed any symptoms, or to have important medical checks, should be a priority. Make time for yourself and everyone who works with you.
There’s no real excuse for missing your favourite sports activity, exercise class or a session at the gym. You can leave your business in the very capable hands of an award-winning Genie while you give your body a boost with some enjoyably active time away from the business.
So, remember Movember isn’t a men-only month. Make sure you’re looking after your own physical and mental health and encourage everyone else to do the same.
Be kind to yourself. Call us today to receive some marvellous Genie magic.

Women, Wedding and Hair Ups
Helen joined us having used a message taking service previously, because she needed us to book the appointments whilst the caller was on the line. Using our service they have been able to move their trained stylist away from Reception back to working with clients 3 days a week, and have now reopened their salon every day of the week. We know all about weaves, flashes, colours, foils, cuts, fringe trims, and are able to book the appropriate appointments into their diary.
They recently switched their salon management software, and each of our Genies was retrained on the new software within 24 hours so we could continue to book appointments for them. Helen’s clients do not know that we answer her phones for the salon, they believe they are talking to the Salon every time.
"We were just not able to get to every call. Using The Salon Genie to book our appointments when they answer the calls is such an obvious choice. When we used a message taking service it inconvenienced our clients as we had to call them back to book them in or to answer the questions about the range of services we can offer!
The Genies have now become part of our team, helping us to answer the calls every day. They were great when we changed our appointment software and were quick to learn the new system."
